Ink card fingerprinting is the traditional process of recording fingerprints with Ink on FBI-approved forms, including the FD-258 fingerprint card.
Live Scan is an electronic process of capturing fingerprints with a DOJ approved Live Scan Machine. During this process, electronic fingerprints are sent directly to the FBI and/or DOJ to perform background checks. Upon completion, results are forwarded directly to the requesting agency.
